Ole Gunnar Solskjaer emerges as surprise favourite for Portsmouth job

Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the favourite to take over at Portsmouth as their pursuit of a new manager continues, understands Shoot Magazine.

The Norwegian successfully steered homeland side Molde FK to the Tippeligaen in his first full season in management ending a 100 year wait for league success for the club.

His achievements have not gone unnoticed back in the country where he made his name and he is rumoured to have shot to the top of Pompey’s shortlist as they look to replace Steve Cotterill who left for Nottingham Forest two weeks ago.

Dave Jones, Sean O’Driscoll and Aidy Boothroyd have been the main names touted around since Cotterill’s departure but the emergence of Solskjaer as a shock contender will surely excite the fans with the 38-year-old serving eleven years of his career under managerial maestro Sir Alex Ferguson.
