Phillips on verge of loan move to Sheffield Utd

Blackpool’s Matt Phillips is on the verge of joining Sheffield United on loan, in a bid to seal a move to a bigger side, according to Click Lancashire.

Blades boss Danny Wilson has set up the loan deal for the pacey winger to help his side’s push for promotion from League One.

Phillips impressed in the Premier League last season with Blackpool, after signing from Wycombe Wanderers for a fee that will eventually cost the Seasiders £700,000.

He made 27 appearances in the top division last year, scoring on his debut against Blackburn, but has started just twice this term for the Tangerines. This has prompted the potential loan move, which could ignite interest from teams in the top-flight.

Phillips is likely to make his debut for United in the Steel City derby against Sheffield Wednesday at Bramall Lane on Sunday.
