An injury time winner from Aaron Ramsey secured a 1-0 win for Arsenal over French side Marseille in the Stade Velodrome, BBC
The win takes Arsene Wenger’s side onto seven points in Group F and puts them a point in front of the French club with half of the group games completed. A poor match was highlighted by the Wales international captain’s finish, who struck after Johann Djourou’s cross fell into his path.
Arsenal’s defensive qualities were much better, limiting Marseille to one real chance, and Wenger was pleased at the way his side battled to victory. The Gunners’ next Champions League fixture comes against Marseille at the Emirates on the 1st November.
The Gunners were unlucky not to get a goal in the first half when Robin Van Persie’s header was handled off the line by Marseille defender Souleymane Diawara, but the referee did not see the incident and gave no decision against OM.
