Real Madrid – Real Betis: Los Blancos face tough test against Pepe Mel’s impressive Real Betis

La Liga Week 8
Saturday October 15, 2011 (17.00 UK)

Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid

After scoring 10 goals in their last two La Liga games, Real Madrid will look to carry on their good form when Pepe Mel’s Real Betis arrive at the Bernabeu on Saturday. Betis started well, but consecutive narrow defeats to Getafe and Levante have seen them slip slightly down the table.

Karim Benzema trained on Wednesday and could feature, but with Gonzalo Higuain playing so well in his place, the French striker may only make the bench. Fabio Coentrao and Pepe have also returned to training after their injuries. Cristiano Ronaldo could be a doubt after not training on Wednesday due to a busy week with Portugal.

Pepe Mel could start young forward Alvaro Vadillo in place of Jefferson Montero. Ruben Castro is likely to lead the Betis line as Roque Santa Cruz had a tiring week on international duty with Paraguay. The visitors are hopeful of getting something from the game, defender Chechu Dorado believes Los Blancos are beatable and that his side can take the lead.
