Redknapp: Gomes set for Tottenham stay

Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes still has a future at Tottenham Hotspur, ESPN reports.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp brought in American shot-stopper Brad Friedel in the summer and the 40 year old has cemented his place in the starting line-up thanks to some impressive performances. That has left Gomes out in the cold and he has yet to make a Premier League appearance so far this season. Gomes impressed on his appearance in the Europa League on Thursday and that has shown Redknapp that he does have a future.

Redknapp said: ‘I would like to think that Gomes still has a future here. But he wants to play more, obviously, and at the moment he is disappointed that Brad has come in. Gomes is top class, when he’s on his game, he’s a great keeper’.
