Harry Redknapp believes the departure of Luka Modric in the summer could have caused a mass exodus amongst his squad, reports The
Tottenham turned down bids from Chelsea in July and August worth as much as £40million and while Redknapp admits his playmaker’s head was turned, he has hailed the subsequent attitude of Modric.
He said: “If he was disappointed I have seen none of it. Not one day has he sulked. I love him as a player and to have lost him would have been a massive blow to the club. It would have sent out all the wrong signals and suddenly you would have had a line of players demanding to follow him out the door.”
Redknapp hopes Modric’s presence will inspire his team for the rest of the season as it seemingly did when Tottenham played Liverpool, winning 4-0 and Modric scoring a stunning opener.
