Redknapp backs Warnock for England job

QPR manager Neil Warnock is a serious contender to become the next England manager, according to Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp will come face to face with Warnock today when Spurs play QPR and the Spurs manager feels his QPR counterpart could do well with the national side after his recent success with QPR and a long and varied career with a number of clubs.

“To walk in [to QPR] and take them up in his first full season takes some doing, people think its easy but they’ve all been trying and no-one got near it. Suddenly he walks in and they go up,” Redknapp told the BBC.

“I don think he gets the recognition he deserves, I’m sure he could do the [England] job,” Redknapp added.

Bookmakers have the Spurs manager as the favorite to succeed Fabio Capello when the Italian leaves the post after next summer’s European Championship tournament in Poland and the Ukraine.
