Richard vows to get better of Rooney

Micah Richards has vowed to snuff out Wayne Rooney ahead of their derby clash on Sunday. Richards says he still hurts from Rooney’s bicycle kick winner against City last season, which was the game which effectively killed off any title challenge.

Richards remembers the moment more vividly than others as he was the closest man to the England striker when his goal of the season effort came off.

“Of course I still remember it, how can I forget it? I get reminded of it nearly every single day when I see the advert for Sky+.” Richards told The Sun.

“Wayne still likes to remind me about it, he still feels full of confidence. But so do we. He won’t be doing it again though, we’ll be trying to keep him quiet this time.”

Richards is one of only two players left from City’s last win at Old Trafford in 2008.
