Rooney keen for Man Utd and England captaincies

Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney has revealed his desire to be awarded captaincy of the both the Red Devils, and the England national side, as outlined by goal.com.

I’ve captained both on one-off occasions but obviously to get the two jobs full-time would be a great honour for me,” said Rooney.

Although only 25-years-old, Rooney is now one of the more experienced players in Manchester United’s squad and recognises the positive influence he has on the club’s youngsters, a trait which is ultimately of vital importance in a prospective captain.

We have got a lot of young players in the [Manchester United] team, and you know they will watch what you are doing on the training pitch and in the matches. I have always worked hard. If I’m not happy with something, I let it be known. It’s good for the younger players to see you still care and still want to win,” which Rooney is in line to help United try to achieve this afternoon in a home game against Norwich.
