Chris Smalling has labelled Manchester United’s derby with Manchester City as the “biggest derby” his side face.
The centre-back has played in two Manchester derbies before, scoring in one, and his side have emerged victorious on both occasions.
Traditionally, United v Liverpool is the biggest derby for United fans, but Smalling believes that the rivalry between the Red devils and the Blues has taken over and is now the most heated derby for his side.
The former Fulham defender told the Manchester
“City have been investing and growing steadily and have hit some great form this season. Straightaway when you come here to the city the Manchester derby is something everybody talks about.
“Yes I was an Arsenal fan and loved the derbies I went to see against Spurs. I loved the passion of the occasion. But I am very much United now and this derby has overtaken the north London one in my mind.”
