Southend stopper Glenn Morris out for up to a month

League Two promotion chasers Southend United have been hit by the news that goalkeeper Glenn Morris could be out for up to a month.

A scan on Morris’ thigh injury which he picked up in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Torquay has revealed a muscle strain for the ever-present stopper.

His presence between the sticks will be missed by the Shrimpers with Morris keeping six clean sheets this season and only conceding 14 goals in 20 starts. His absence will begin tomorrow night when Southend travel to Underhill to face Barnet who currently sit a lowly 23rd in the division.

Manager Paul Sturrock will also have to do without defender Luke Prosser who is suffering from concussion following a clash of heads with Gulls striker Rene Howe.
