Spurs defender Dawson faces two-month layoff

Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson will see a specialist about his Achilles injury next week and there are fears he could be out until next year, the Daily Mail reports.

Dawson suffered the injury after Spurs were beaten 5-1 by Manchester City on 28 August. The initial diagnosis was two months, but Dawson’s rehabilitation may not be complete yet and the defender will see a specialist to determine how long he may be out of action.

The 27-year-old had started running with the Spurs squad two weeks ago, but felt pain and has only been allowed to do gym work while Spurs try and see what is wrong. Manager Harry Redknapp has clarified the situation and hopes that Dawson will not require an operation.

Redknapp said: “Michael is going for a scan on Wednesday on his Achilles and at the moment, he’s not feeling happy with it. It could be a long-term problem for him. Until he sees the specialist, we don’t know if they want to operate on him, which we don’t want.
