Swindon loan in West Ham starlet Cristian Montano

Swindon Town have pulled off a coup with the capture of West Ham winger Cristian Montano on a one-month loan deal.

The Colombian enjoyed a successful spell at League One side Notts County earlier this season notching four times in 11 appearances but Paolo Di Canio has used his strong links with Hammers to entice the 19-year-old to drop down a further division.

He was initially recalled by the Championship side after news emerged that fellow winger David Bentley would be ruled out for at least six months following knee surgery but manager Sam Allardyce has allowed Montano to gain further first-team experience on loan at the Robins.

Swindon currently occupy 13th place in League Two after a mixed start under controversial new boss Di Canio.

They face a tricky trip to Accrington Stanley on Saturday looking to pick up an important three points to close the four-point gap that currently separates them from the play-off places.
