Branislav Ivanovic and Salomon Kalou have both praised striker Fernando Torres for his midweek double against Genk, and are backing him to keep up his scoring streak, according to The
Torres has struggled for form since joining from Liverpool for £50 million in January, but his two goals on Wednesday added to two in his last two Premier League games.
“I always said there was no question about Fernando, because he’s really great,” said Ivanovic. “We are happy to have him like this on the pitch.
“As a team, we expect more goals from him this season. It’s important to have the big squad and the big players who can decide games.”
Kalou added: “It’s good to have Fernando at his top level, and you need that if you’re going to go a long way in the competition.
“He’s a great player and sometimes you just have to give them time to get their fitness back and return to their best form.”
