Harry Redknapp wants to make Emmanuel Adebayor’s loan deal at Tottenham permanent, but has admitted it will only be possible if the striker takes a pay cut, Goal.com
Adebayor is currently on loan at White Hart Lane from Manchester City until the end of the season, and has scored three times in four league games so far.
“If Emmanuel maintains his current form I would love to keep him,” said Redknapp. “But his wages are going to be a major stumbling block, that’s for sure. The only way we can realistically get a deal done is if Emmanuel is prepared to take a substantial pay cut and put his football before money,” he concluded.
Adebayor, 27, is currently on £150,000 a week, but most of his salary is being subsidised by his parent club City for the duration of the loan deal.
