The draw for the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup was made yesterday and Chelsea will host Kenny Dalglish’s revolutionised Liverpool side at Stamford Bridge. The tie will either be played on Tuesday 29th or Wednesday 30th of November.
With only 8 teams left in the competition Chelsea will be fancying their chances of winning the first available silverware of the season come February. However with Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal still in with a chance of lifting the trophy themselves there is still a long way to go.
Chelsea overcame Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park on Wednesday to progress whilst Liverpool won by the same scoreline at Stoke, with Luis Suarez the catalyst. The same fixture is to be played only days in the league before the Carling Cup encounter on November 20th, which may be an indicator as to which way this seemingly tight cup clash will go.
