The Belgian defender suffered a scare when he had calf cramp in the victory over Bolton, but he is ready to play in the London derby. The 25 year old has played just 10 times since April 2010 after an Achilles problem, but will be hoping to put his injury worries behind him.
Vermaelen said: ‘It was great to be back and to get time on the pitch. I felt fresh. I’m OK and am available for Saturday. If I come back from injury after a long time, I don’t believe in coming back and getting rhythm’.
