Villas-Boas rues Chelsea profligacy

Andre Villas-Boas was in an understandably sombre mood yesterday as his side were defeated 5-3 by rivals Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. As the scoreline suggests it was an incredibly open game of football with many chances wasted as well as scored over the 90 minutes.

In the opening exchanges Frank Lampard, Daniel Sturridge, Ashley Cole and Fernando Torres all missed good opportunities for Chelsea, which left Villas-Boas regretting the chances wasted. “There was a couple of decisive moments, in the first half we were creating a lot of problems but couldn’t find the back of the net. The first fifteen minutes was all ours, and we couldn’t score more than one goal.”

Villas-Boas went on to tell the BBC that his team were “ruing after the 3-3” having done so well to get back into the game.
