Watford sign Wolves star Michael Kightly on loan

Watford have completed the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Michael Kightly on an initial one-month emergency loan.

The 25-year-old has endured a tumultuous last three seasons at Molineux with a number of injuries restricting him to just 19 first-team appearances.

However Wolves manager Mick McCarthy still sees Kightly as a big part of his plans and told the club’s official website the move came about from Kightly’s request: “Having spoken to Michael, he feels he needs to play maybe five or six games on the bounce which is something he hasn’t been able to do in the last two years.

“We had a discussion and agreed that he should try and go out on loan, where there’s a better chance of playing those games and helping him get towards the levels needed for the pace of the Premier League.”

The move comes after a similar move to Nottingham Forest fell through and Kightly will be looking to make his Hornets bow when they host Crystal Palace on Saturday.
