Welbeck denies Man Utd playing too open

Danny Welbeck has denied claims that Manchester United are playing too open this season, stressing that his side are looking to collect three points from every game.

United have let slip two leads in the last week or so against Stoke City and Basle and critics pinned the results down to the Red Devils’ open style of play.

But United striker Welbeck believes the champions are playing well and doesn’t believe there is any need to change their system.

He told The Daily Star: “We’re Man United and we want to win every game we’re going into. We’re not looking to draw a game, we’re out to get all three points and that’s what we aim to do every game, week in, week out.

“That’s football. Teams are going to create chances against us and Norwich did that. They had a couple of one-on-one opportunities that they maybe should have stuck away but once we got our chance we put a couple away.”
