Yaya Toure blames Pep Guardiola for his Barcelona departure

Yaya Toure is the latest former Barcelona player to come out and criticise Pep Guardiola and his management style since leaving the Camp Nou.

The Manchester City man left the Catalans in 2010 for a reported €30m fee and €833,000 monthly salary. However, beyond the obvious financial incentive, Toure has indicated to ONA FM that the real reason he left Barcelona was down to Guardiola’s treatment of him.

“When I spoke with Guardiola he left me blank. His explanations were a bit strange and he ignored me up until I had the offer from City.

“My family were laughing because they thought my situation at the club with Guardiola was a joke. At the end Guardiola spoke to me, but initially he never said anything.

“He had no confidence in me. I wanted to stay and he did not. If Guardiola had spoken to me I would have stayed at the club. I did not want to leave. I wanted to finish my career at Barca.”

Bojan Krkic recently levied similar accusations of Guardiola’s difficult character as forcing him out of the club whilst Zlatan Ibrahimovic has on more than one occasion voiced similar grievances towards the Coach.
