Postiga 11, 49
La Romareda, Zaragoza
Two moments of inspiration and class made the difference between Real Zaragoza and Real Sociedad as the home side ran out 2-0 winners thanks to two fantastic goals from Helder Postiga in what was otherwise a rather scrappy and uneventful encounter.
The match had shown no signs of life in the opening ten minutes until Postiga put the home side ahead. Efrain Juarez sent a cross in from the right wing which the former Sporting Lisbon striker showed great athleticism to meet with a powerful overhead kick that flew passed Sociedad goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
Zaragoza had the better of the chances throughout the rest of the first period whereas the visitors could not get started and failed to build up any momentum. Javier Aguirre’s men made the ideal start to the second-half has Leonardo Ponzio weaved through the Sociedad defence in a display of impressive skill and, with a perfectly weighted pass, sent Postiga through on goal and the Portuguese striker was able to place it into the net.
Sociedad went on the attack for the remainder of the game as they looked for a way back into the game but with a lack of attacking potency, they failed to make an impression on the game and could do nothing to stop Zaragoza walking away with the three points.
