AC Milan step up interest in Chelsea striker Drogba

AC Milan have confirmed their interest in Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, with a January loan move now seeming more likely than the Italian giants waiting until the Ivorian’s contract runs out in the summer.

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has publicly stated their interest in Drogba, telling the Gazzetta dello Sport that he has “been in love with Drogba since he was playing with Marseille.” Galliani also is reportedly interested in the signings of Chelsea teammate Nicolas Anelka and Manchester City front-man Mario Balotelli but Drogba is his first choice according to BBC Sport.

The Italian giants are in need of another forward after Antonio Cassano was ruled out for 6 months following heart surgery, and Galliani is after a short term answer to his absence. “It’s not a given that someone will come in January. If they do it will be on loan because I promised Cassano we will keep his place for him.”
