Tottenham coach Clive Allen insists that striker Jermain Defoe will have a part to play in Tottenham’s season, but faces a difficulty to force his way into the side, talkSPORT
Defoe is being kept on the sidelines by the in-form duo of Rafael van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor. Adebayor has been on fire since his loan move from Manchester City and scored twice as Spurs beat Aston Villa 2-0 on Monday night. Defoe has lost his place in the England squad and reports suggest that he wants a move away from White Hart Lane for more games.
Allen believes that Defoe still has a big role to play for Harry Redknapp’s side and just has to be patient and wait for his turn in the team.
‘Jermain has been very unfortunate. Harry had made his decisions in terms of who has been playing and the result’s been fantastic. It’s a nice problem to have, but we know the quality Jermain has. He’s a fantastic player and goalscorer and he’ll certainly play his part’, Allen said.
