Anderson injury doubt for Man Utd game with Sunderland

Brazilian midfielder Anderson has been rated as doubtful for this weekend’s clash with Sunderland at Old Trafford, manutd.com reports.

The Manchester United midfielder was substituted during the second half of Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Otelul Galati and could miss the encounter with the Black Cats. United also lost Michael Owen to injury after he felt a thigh injury 11 minutes into the game.

United captain Nemanja Vidic is available after missing the Galati fixture through suspension, but United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is unsure over his Brazilian midfielder.

Ferguson said: ‘Vidic will be back, but maybe Anderson is the one player who picked up an injury last night. We’ll see what he’s like. He could be doubtful. Michael injured his thigh when he made the run across the front post for the first goal. It’s a killer for him. He started the season well’.
