Andy Bishop pens two-year contract extension at Bury

Bury striker Andy Bishop has committed his immediate future to the club by putting pen to paper on a new deal at Gigg Lane.

The extension will keep Bishop at the club for a further two years in a season where he has returned to prominence following a wretched past two years with injury.

However the 29-year-old has still managed to make 216 appearances for the Shakers since his arrival from York City in 2006, and told the club’s official website it certainly wasn’t a difficult decision to sign the fresh contract: “Once the Chairman made it clear that they wanted me to extend my contract, it was one of the easiest of decisions that I have had to make.

As a player you get to hear of other clubs that might be looking to talk to you, but the club and supporters have been incredible with me over what has been a difficult two years, and I just want to now reward everyone that has kept the faith in me during that time. Personally and professionally I am just so happy here, and I am really excited about the future direction the club is going in.”
