Anelka denies Chelsea exit talk

Chelsea striker Nicholas Anelka has denied reports that he is set to leave Chelsea in January.

The often enigmatic Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge before his contract ends next summer but the player has categorically rejected these claims.

Anelka told Agence France-Presse: “Following the quotations attributed to me in an English newspaper, I’d like to categorically deny having given any interview, let alone spoken about my future.

“I’m under contract with Chelsea until the end of the season, with many playing commitments.”

The striker has scored 38 times in 125 league appearances for the Blues with half these goals coming in the 2008-09 season, winning the Premier League Golden Boot in the process.

Anelka has been linked with Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua, Russian big spenders Anzhi Makhachkala and a host of American clubs as his Chelsea career approaches its conclusion.
