Anelka nears Blues exit as China emerges as possibility

Nicolas Anelka looks bound for China as his Chelsea contract nears its end, reports The Sun.

Shanghai Shenhua, who are currently 11th in the Chinese Super League are interested in snapping up Anelka in a deal worth £9.2 million a year to the Frenchman. Shenhua are managed by 76 year-old Miroslav Blazevic, who took Croatia to their famous third place finish in the 1998 World Cup held in Anelka’s native France.

A spokesman for the Shanghai club has revealed: “It is so difficult. We actually asked about Anelka. We also know he could leave the Blues as a Bosman player next summer but there are so many clubs interested in him.

“AC Milan, Russian clubs and some Gulf clubs. If we want to sign him finally, he would cost plenty.”
