Arsenal face competition for Dortmund star

German giants Bayern Munich are ready to rival Arsenal for the signings of Borussia Dortmund star Mario Goetze and Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marco Reus, according to The Daily Mail.

Goetze and Reus are the hottest prospects in German football at the moment and have caught the eye of both Arsenal and the Bavarian club. 19 year old Goetze scored Dortmund’s winner against Bayern on Saturday, whereas 22 year old Reus scored a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen to enhance his reputation. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking for a flair player to replace the summer departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri with Goetze fitting the bill. Dortmund are not looking to sell cheap for the 22 year old and Monchengladbach feel the same way about selling Reus.

Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has spoken about their interest in both players. ‘Goetze is a magnificent player despite only being 19 years old. Of course we observe such players. Reus has a clause in his contract that isn’t exactly cheap, (but) he could give us even more quality in the long run’, Rummenigge said.
