Arsenal plan swap deal for Schalke forward

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is prepared to swap Russian forward Andrey Arshavin for Schalke striker Jefferson Farfan, the Metro reports.

Schalke are concerned about losing Farfan for nothing this summer when his contract expires and could be open to a deal which would see Arshavin move to the German club, and Arsenal are ready to sacrifice the 30 year old Russian to make room for Farfan in their squad. Arshavin is thought to be happy at the prospect of such a move, in order to get more first team football than he is currently receiving at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners will wait until the summer before making a move for the Peruvian as Schalke are not willing to let Farfan go in January. Farfan is said to be a more consistent performer than Arshavin, who was signed as the club’s record signing and has yet to show his true potential in a Gunners shirt.
