Birmingham star Liam Ridgewell could make Premier League return in January

Birmingham defender Liam Ridgewell is set to be offered a Premier League return in January with Newcastle and West Brom vying for his signature, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Blues defender has excelled both domestically and in the club’s Europa League campaign with the Championship side still looking at a genuine chance of progression to the knockout stages.

These performances have alerted both the Baggies and the Champions League chasing Magpies who were widely expected to complete the signing of the 27-year-old in the summer transfer window.

An initial asking fee of £2m had been touted around then but with West Brom now expected to step up their interest in Ridgewell the Blues could be cashing in on a notable fee for their defensive star after losing fellow centre backs Scott Dann and Roger Johnson before the start of the season.
