Chamakh admits first-team opportunities unlikely

Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh has acknowledged that a lone striker formation works at Arsenal and he will have to bide his time for first-team football, Sky Sports reports.

The Moroccan has been sidelined due to Dutch striker Robin Van Persie’s blistering form and with the Gunners only playing one forward, there is only room for Van Persie at the moment. Chamakh has been subject of rumours of a move back to Bordeaux and whilst he has not had much game time, the striker insists that his time with the Gunners has been good.

Chamakh said: ‘It would be better for me if we played with two strikers, but that’s the system and the way of playing here. I respect that and it’s working very well. It’s gone well overall. The first year, the first season is about settling in and adapting and there are lots of good strikers around’.

27 year old Chamakh also stated that he wanted his Arsenal career to continue and lives in hope that he will get an even chance soon.
