Chelsea boss Villas-Boas refuses to rule Liverpool out of title race

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas believes that Liverpool are still in with a chance of winning the Premier League this season, according to The Daily Mail.

The two sides go head-to-head on Sunday, with Chelsea sitting in fourth place and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Liverpool are down in seventh and trail City by 15 points, but Villas-Boas believes the Reds’ summer signings could help them to climb the table.

“I’ve always seen them as title contenders because it’s been assumed by them that they would do it,” he said.

“Dalglish has made the necessary changes to Liverpool for them to progress to title contenders this year,” the 34-year-old added.

The Anfield side have not won the league title since 1990 and are believed to be targeting a top four finish for the current campaign.
