Clarke looking forward to Man City test

Liverpool first team coach Steve Clarke believes that his side are relishing the prospect of facing league leaders Manchester City on Sunday, The Liverpool Daily Post reports.

The Reds are on the back of a nine game unbeaten run and will be confident following their win over Chelsea last weekend. City are unbeaten in the league so far and have established a five point lead at the top of the table, playing some scintillating football in the process. Clarke thinks that the Reds are capable of killing City’s unbeaten record and showing the same type of performance as they did against the Blues.

In last season’s fixture, City were beaten 3-0 by Liverpool and Clarke hopes they can get a home win after three successive draws at Anfield. ‘We prepare ourselves – that’s what we always try to do. We try and prepare our players and the way we want them to play. We feel if we can perform to our maximum, we can give any team in the Premier League a game. It’s up to us as a team and as individual players to handle that threat and if we do that, we’ll be okay’, Clarke said.
