Defoe desperate for first-team football

Jermain Defoe has underlined his desire to become an integral part of the first team, after scoring in Tottenham’s 1-3 victory over West Brom.

Defoe played from the start for 81 minutes due to the absence of Rafael van der Vaart through injury, scoring Spurs’ second goal with an rasping effort from the edge of the area, and speaking after the game he said, “It’s been frustrating because I haven’t got any patience. I love scoring goals, even in training.

“So it’s difficult if you’re not playing, but you know that if your head goes then you aren’t going to give your best. The way I feel now, compared to last season, is completely different; I feel really explosive and I know I’m going to get into positions and score goals.”
