Defoe praises Spurs youngster Walker after England man of match performance

Spurs forward Jermain Defoe has heaped praise on teammate Kyle Walker following Walker’s impressive full debut against Sweden, tottenhamhotspur.com reports.

Walker was given Man of the Match honours for Fabio Capello’s side in their 1-0 victory and looked solid both defensively and attacking for England. The young right back faces competition with Liverpool right back Glen Johnson and Manchester City’s Micah Richards for the England right back jersey and Defoe believes he has what it takes.

Defoe has 46 England caps and the striker insists that the performance of Walker is so impressive, considering he is only 20 and the game was his first for his country’s senior side.

‘It’s not easy getting Man of the Match for England, let alone on your full debut. There are so many other quality players out there. It’s special for him. He’s only 20 and to get into the full England squad and to be voted best player on the pitch, that’s unbelievable really. I think he could be the England right back for years to come’, Defoe said.
