Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien is in line for a quick return from injury and is back doing light training, according to The
Essien has been missing so far this season with an anterior cruciate injury and has been missing for a slump in Blues form. The 28 year old participated in various passing and dribbling drills during Friday training and also took part in different sprint exercises. The backroom staff at the club believe he is well advanced on the road to recovery after his surgery over the summer.
Essien will continue with the rehabilitation programme mapped out for him at the club and should return to full training towards the end of December. Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas expects Essien’s return date to be the big clash at Stamford Bridge against champions Manchester United on February 4th. A return for the Ghanaian would be a big boost for the Blues, who have missed the powerful presence that Essien offers in midfield.
