Freedman looking forward to Man Utd clash

Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman is relishing the prospect of taking on Manchester United at Old Trafford in the quarter finals of the Carling Cup, The Telegraph reports.

The Premier League champions take on the Championship side with Freedman eager to pit his wits against fellow Glaswegian Sir Alex Ferguson. United are expected to field a weakened team, but nonetheless, they will be looking for victory and progression to the last four. Young players such as Paul Pogba, Federico Macheda and Ezekiel Fryers could all get their chance for United.

Freedman is ready for the game and believes that his team will have no fear when they step out on to the Old Trafford turf. The Palace boss also said that his players will become better players after tonight’s game and the night is really one for those diehard Palace fans, who have stuck with the club:

‘The players will come away better from Old Trafford. This is a night that also belongs to the fans because they’ve stuck by us through administration and relegation. They can go and enjoy the company of the United fans in their big, fantastic stadium. Win, lose or draw I’ll walk away from Old Trafford a better manager.’
