The Mexican forward has been a revelation at United and scored 20 goals in all competitions last season, which was his first in English football. Hernandez is adored by the United fans, but could have easily retired after admitting that he was not enjoying football and nearly quit.
Hernandez said: ‘I wasn’t playing much football, I was being kept in the reserves. I was disappointed younger players were coming through and getting ahead of me and it really got me down, even away from football’.
The 23 year old is now enjoying his football and is glad he made the decision to continue playing. Hernandez is also relieved that the concussion he suffered was nothing serious and believes that the incident was just a one-off unlucky problem.
