Injury concerns may hinder McNaughton loan extension

AFC Wimbledon’s attempts to extend on loan West Ham defender Callum McNaughton’s temporary deal may be over given the Championship side’s recent defensive injury crisis.

With Winston Reid the latest player to enter the Hammer’s treatment room, Don’s boss Terry Burton and assistant manager Stuart Cash now believe securing McNaughton for a longer spell at Kingsmeadow may prove difficult:

“We need to get on the phone to West Ham,” Cash told the Epsom Guardian.

“If we could extend his loan we would like to but it is up to West Ham and they lost a couple of centre-backs in their game on Tuesday night.”

McNaughton, 20, has so far started 11 games for the League Two side, but with his current loan spell due to end next Tuesday; it looks increasingly likely that he won’t be adding much more to this tally.
