Jimmy Kebe set to leave Reading over contract dispute

Reading winger Jimmy Kebe has admitted he expects to leave the Berkshire club in either January or the summer transfer window.

The Malian star has been offered a new deal but after rejecting certain terms on the contract his future with the club now looks to be a short one.

Kebe told the Reading Post: “I read the newspaper and (director of football) Nick Hammond was saying they offered me an extremely good contract, but I don’t think so. I’ve talked to them since the beginning of the season and said I really wanted to stay. They keep saying they really want me to stay, but they don’t show me in terms of a contract.”

The 27-year-old arrived at the Madejski Stadium in 2008 from French club Lens and has gone on to make 150 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals.

He has continued to be a mainstay this season having featured in 12 out of the Royals’ 16 league games but a cloud of uncertainty now hangs over his future with both parties not looking to back down over their initial contract demands.
