Liverpool defender Glen Johnson believes that his side can now achieve a top four place following their 2-1 win over Chelsea, BBC
The Reds are now level on points with Chelsea, who sit fourth in the league, following Johnson’s 87th minute winner against his former side. The England international now believes the character in the dressing room is good enough to kick on and challenge for the Champions League places come the end of the season.
Johnson said: ‘We’re taking it game by game, but our aim is the top four and that’s what we are fighting for. If we start getting a few more points at home and keep what we’re doing away, I’m sure we won’t be too far away’.
In an interview with BBC Radio Merseyside, the 27 year old added: ‘Chelsea are always going to have periods of the game when they’re on top. I thought we dealt with it quite well. We conceded but I thought that was quite unfortunate. We showed great character to bounce back’.
