Johnson set for new bumper contract at Man City

According to The Sun, Adam Johnson will finally sign a new contract with Man City that will see his wages double to £80k-a-week.

The winger has found it tough cementing a first-team place at the Ethiad Stadium and was also angry with Roberto Mancini, when the latter questioned his work rate, but the Italian manager says his criticisms are for the greater good.

Mancini explained: “If he was not a good player, then I wouldn’t waste my time saying this, but I do as he has everything – I don’t want him stopping at this level.”

He added: “I want him up a level — then a level more. If he can continue to work hard and to improve he can be one of the best wingers in Europe.”
