Jordan backs Tottenham decision to sell Bent

Joe Jordan has insisted that Spurs were right to sell Darren Bent to Sunderland whilst retaining the services of Jermain Defoe.

Bent was sold to Sunderland at a loss by Tottenham in 2009, for a deal worth approximately £10 million, after signing from Charlton in 2007 for £16.5 million. Since leaving White Hart Lane, however, he has scored 46 goals in 84 Premier League appearances.

Speaking to the Telegraph ahead of Spurs’ game against Bent’s current club Aston Villa, Jordan said: “You have to look at the bigger picture and not just at that individual. Jermain was scoring goals at the time. You have got to look at what strikers you have. Can you play one up front? Can he adapt to that?”
