Lampard defends Terry in race row

Frank Lampard has come to the defence of Chelsea and England team mate John Terry following the on-going racism allegations being levelled at him after a spat with Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

Ahead of England’s friendly with Sweden, where Terry is likely to lead the team out, Capello has received criticism for including the Chelsea captain in his squad, but Lampard believes it is the right decision. When asked if he believed Terry is a racist, Lampard told the Daily Mail: “That’s a ridiculous question. No. Absolutely not. Absolutely not.”

He went onto comment: “He’s a member of the squad. You have to take the innocent until proven guilty element of it. The manager has taken that, John has taken that, and that’s how it should be taken. The players respect him as a captain of the team, as a leader and as a player.”
