Frank Lampard hopes he has silenced his critics after scoring Chelsea’s match winning goal on Saturday.
Lampard’s stooping header in the 51st minute sealed the points for the Blues at Blackburn and he told BBC
“I’m very pleased we got the three points, albeit not at our best. We had to address the manner we lost the Arsenal game.”
The 33-year-old has had a tough season already and was even labelled ‘past it’ in some areas of the media, but Lampard, who scored 15 goals last season from midfield added:
“Being out of the team spurred me on. The minute you are taken out of the team people talk. I’ve trained hard, and I’ve won my place back in the team.”
Lampard now joins up with the England squad where he has been tipped to deputise as captain amid the John Terry race row.
