Lille plan to make Cole Liverpool deal permanent

French side Lille are looking to sign Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole on a permanent basis after the bright start he has made whilst on loan with LOSC, ESPN reports.

Cole made the loan switch to the French champions in the summer and has settled in well to life in Lille, putting in some lively performances. Lille president Michel Seydoux is keen to make the deal for the 30 year old permanent after Cole became an instant hit with fans and players.

Seydoux said: ‘Cole is becoming an important member of our team and even though he is currently Liverpool’s player, it is not a certainty that he will leave us again at the end of his (loan) contract. If he has a certain good feeling with Lille and we can make him an interesting offer, this is something that we will look into’.

Liverpool are interested in LOSC playmaker Eden Hazard and could use Cole as a makeweight in the deal to bring Hazard to Anfield. The 20 year old is tipped as one of European football’s brightest prospects and the Reds are firmly interested.
