Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina says the club’s current squad has the quality to challenge for the top honours, the Liverpool
The Reds have gone over five years since they last tasted success in a major competition, when they won the FA Cup in 2006.
However, Reina is optimistic that the side is going places under the ownership of Fenway Sports Group and believes it will not be long before the fans are celebrating silverware once more.
“There was a difficult period – we were nowhere near what this football club deserves,” said the 29-year-old, in reference to the ill-fated reign of former owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks.
“Now we have the money to buy some players and create a squad that is able to compete for the title. Hopefully, with the right balance of owners, supporters and the squad, we can become champions again,” he concluded.
