Liverpool defender Kelly happy to play the waiting game

Liverpool’s young full back Martin Kelly has told the Liverpool Echo that he is happy to wait for his chance in the first team, and that current right back Glen Johnson is the ideal role model for him at the club.

“At this moment in time, I am the understudy to Glen. But I am still young and to watch a player like that is only good for me.” Kelly went on to add: “It’s good for Glen to be playing and pushing on in the England side, and it’s brilliant for me to be watching him in training and learning from him.”

Kelly made 11 appearances for The Reds last season, and the England Under-21 international has made 5 already this campaign with Dalglish pledging earlier this week to give his young players a first team chance in the coming weeks.
