The Reds finished seventh in 2009/10, missing out on Champions League football for the first time in seven seasons, and did not qualify for European competition at all in the last campaign.
Reina admits it is hard watching other teams playing in Europe, but knows the task ahead of him and his teammates.
“Yes, it’s horrible,” said the Spanish shot-stopper. “It’s hard to handle, but you have to. It is the first year in my career that I have not played at all in Europe.
“That’s the situation, though, and we have to face it. We have to be humble and we have to be patient. We have to get back in the Champions League sooner rather than later.”
